Michelle Murray DVM, MS, DACVIM (Neurology), CCRT

Dr. Michelle Murray’s passion for animals and science has been a lifelong journey. Growing up, she combined her love of animals with her curiosity about medicine, and during high school, she worked at one of the country’s first specialty and referral hospitals. That experience ignited her passion for veterinary medicine and set her on a path to specialize in neurology and neurosurgery. She earned her DVM from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1998, completed an internship at Michigan State University, and pursued a residency and Master of Science in Neurology/Neurosurgery at Colorado State University. Dr. Murray is also certified in Canine Rehabilitation through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute.

Dr. Murray was drawn to VHA for its philosophy of compassionate, community-focused care and its strong connection to the local area. She was especially inspired by the fact that the practice is independently owned by Dr. Nations, who grew up in the community he now serves. She finds immense fulfillment in offering advanced, compassionate care to her patients and their families.

Outside of work, Dr. Murray’s creative side really shines. With a background as a studio art minor and a biochemistry major, she’s always loved blending science and design. She’s passionate about architecture, interior decorating, and antique shopping, and during college, she even spent two years designing veterinary hospitals—a perfect mix of her love for animals and creativity. In her free time, she enjoys backpacking and working on house projects that bring her artistic vision to life.
