I was determined to be here at VHA. I saw the website, I saw Dr. Nation’s culture and what he stands for and I knew I wanted to work here. When I got the job, it was one of the best days of my life.
- VICTORIA HERNANDEZ, CVA, Daytime Emergency Team Lead

Are you a good fit for VHA?

Finding employees who are a good fit for our tribe is essential to the VHA culture. We’re looking for people who have the energy, excitement, and resilience to join us in our endeavors. If you’re hungry, humble, and smart, VHA is your place.

Pup Cup

Here’s what we mean we talk about being hungry, humble, and smart:

  • Hungry: You work hard. You’re resilient and driven to make a difference, especially when the going gets tough. For every challenge, you rise to the occasion.

  • Humble: You put others first every time, and recognize that every day is a major opportunity to learn something new.

  • Smart: This isn’t about IQ. It’s about emotional quotient, about thinking of others and how you can best use your abilities to benefit everyone around you.

We’ve created this opportunity for you--to change the world as it needs to be changed, right now. Make your mark at VHA.

Dr. Nations spends so much time and energy wanting to make certain each person is growing here at VHA – not just in the profession, but personally.
- MONYA GARNETT, Hospital Administrator

Our hiring process

Here’s some insight into our hiring process, so you’ll know what to expect after you submit an application:

Initial phone interview

This interview allows us to get to know you and introduce ourselves, share some insight into VHA and what the future holds here, and discuss how we can help you grow in your career.

Initial in-person interview

If our phone interview goes well, we’ll likely ask you to visit the practice for an in-person interview with the team leader of the department for which you’re applying.

Peer interview & job shadowing

Next, we’ll ask you to participate in a peer review, where you spend some time with our team to shadow and see what it’s like to work at VHA. You’ll have a chance to get to know your potential new team and make sure we’re a good fit for you (and vice versa).

Follow-up email

Following the interviews, we’ll send you a follow-up email that will include a link to our website, a recruiting video link, and a copy of our Core Values.

Offer letter

If you receive an offer letter from us, it will contain details about starting our background check and drug screen, along with a tentative orientation date.

If you do not receive an offer, you will receive an email from us thanking you for your interest in VHA and encouraging you to apply again in the future if another suitable position becomes available.

Orientation day

Congratulations--you’re hired! Here’s what happens next:

Once you’ve officially joined our tribe, it’s time to schedule your orientation. At your orientation, you’ll spend the day with our Human Resources Generalist, Carrie-Ann, reviewing employment documents and VHA standards so we can make your hiring official.

We will then:

  • Set you up with our system and show you all your account details that you have as a member of our team

  • Have you review our benefits and the learning management systems VHA offers full access to, including 4ACT and AtDove

  • Take you on a tour of the VHA campus, and show you where our new building (VHA 2.0) will be located

  • Meet with our RVT, CCRP Rehab Lead, Amanda Meeks, to review your training and technical guidance for CUBEX, IDEXX, etc.

  • Take your photo to share with the team and help you craft a short bio to welcome you to VHA
