Dr. Marielle LeFloch’s passion for animals and medicine blossomed at an early age. As soon as she could work, she split her time between a local veterinary hospital and a zoo, experiences that solidified her dream of becoming a veterinarian. A 2016 graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. LeFloch went on to complete two internships and a rigorous three-year surgical residency at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in Rhode Island, becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Dr. LeFloch is thrilled to bring her expertise to Veterinary Healthcare Associates, where patient care and staff well-being go hand in hand. She admires VHA’s dedication to creating a calming environment for patients—like using color-changing lighting in the wards—and our commitment to supporting employees with resources like the on-site gym, meditation pod, and café. “This is essential to having staff that can give their all to every patient,” she shares.
One of her most memorable cases was a police dog injured in the line of duty. Despite being an aggressive and challenging patient, Dr. LeFloch and our team helped him recover through surgery and months of therapy, enabling him to return to duty and protect his community. “Even when patients aren’t the easiest, helping them recover can have a lasting impact far beyond the hospital,” she says.
Outside of work, Dr. LeFloch’s creativity and adventurous spirit shine. She enjoys painting whimsical animal portraits for kids and friends and loves unique hobbies like underwater hockey and roller derby. At home, she and her husband, Phil, a physical therapist, care for two three-legged cats, Flapjack and Orange Juice, and two crested geckos, Bubbles and Trillian.
