Dr. Bruna Miessler serves as an Emergency and ICU Veterinarian here at VHA, bringing a passion for emergency medicine, compassionate client care, and a strong background in advanced clinical training. Originally from Brazil, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from UNIFAJ before pursuing the PAVE (Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence) through Louisiana State University, allowing her to continue her veterinary career in the United States.
Following the PAVE program, Dr. Miessler completed both a six-month Emergency and Critical Care internship and a rotating internship at LSU. She later served as a staff veterinarian in Neurology before transitioning into a teaching role in clinical skills, where she enjoyed mentoring future veterinarians. While teaching was incredibly rewarding, stepping away from the clinic helped her realize just how much she missed caring for patients and building relationships with clients, ultimately leading her back to emergency medicine.
Dr. Miessler was drawn to VHA because of our reputation for providing exceptional care to both pets and the people who love them. She is excited to be part of a collaborative team that shares her commitment to high-quality medicine and compassionate service.
The most rewarding part of emergency medicine for Dr. Miessler is helping pets and their families during life’s most critical moments. She finds purpose in providing answers, guiding owners through emotionally difficult situations, and being there when they need support the most.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Miessler enjoys spending time with her husband, their three children, and their two rescue dogs, who made the move from Louisiana to Florida alongside the family. Whether they’re walking, riding bikes, or spending time at the park, she treasures opportunities to be outdoors and together with her family.
Dr. Miessler is excited for the future at VHA and looks forward to continuing to serve our community while growing alongside an exceptional team.
