Ashley’s passion for veterinary medicine began with a deep love for her childhood Labrador. When he passed away, it was due to a lack of proper education on her family’s part. This experience sparked her desire to educate pet owners and help animals live healthier, better lives. “I chose this path because I wanted to make a difference—for both pets and their people,” she shares.
Ashley has been in the veterinary field for over 9 years, starting as an intern shadowing doctors before working her way up to becoming a veterinary technician while attending school. Since joining VHA, she’s found immense fulfillment in being part of a company that recognizes her potential and provides room for growth. “The atmosphere and the employees make it feel like a second home,” she says, grateful for the supportive environment at VHA.
One case that changed Ashley’s perspective involved a dog rescued from a house fire. “I didn’t think he was going to make it, his skin was so badly burned,” she recalls. But with a lot of medicine and time, he made a full recovery. “Seeing him back to being a normal dog was something I didn’t believe was possible,” she says, amazed by the resilience of her patients.
At home, Ashley is the proud owner of two dogs: Baked Beans, a Rottweiler, and Toke, a Pitbull. When she’s not working, Ashley enjoys reading thriller and murder mysteries, painting, and watching movies. She believes in the importance of balancing the emotional demands of veterinary medicine with personal well-being. “I’ve always been able to separate my emotions between work and home, and VHA helps by offering support through teammates and management when it’s needed most,” she notes.
