Dr. Des Bordes grew up in Prairieville, Louisiana, where her love for animals began with the adoption of her first two black Lab mixes, Daisy and Oscar. Her journey into veterinary medicine deepened as she worked at a veterinary hospital throughout college and veterinary school, an experience she credits for shaping her path and fueling her passion. She earned her DVM from Louisiana State University in 2025 and brings her dedication and heart to the Emergency and ICU team at Veterinary Healthcare Associates.
She first discovered VHA through her classmate Victoria and visited several times during vet school. “I’ve always been drawn to VHA because of their gold-standard care and dedication to creating a positive culture,” Dr. Des Bordes shares. Now part of the team, she’s excited to learn from the experienced ER and specialty doctors around her.
At home, she enjoys the company of her cat Lu, a male domestic shorthair. When she’s not at work, Dr. Des Bordes can often be found kayaking with her boyfriend or soaking in the beauty of Florida’s beaches.
To balance the emotional demands of emergency medicine, she values time off, creative outlets, and VHA’s supportive environment. “VHA truly prioritizes mental health and work–life balance, which makes a big difference in how rewarding the work feels,” she says.
