Alonna always knew she was going to be in the veterinary industry. As a child, she always had a passion for helping animals and advocating for them. Before finding her home at VHA, she worked at a general practice and prior to that, she taught animal husbandry to children. Alonna was also a reserved grand campion along with her llama, Crimson. When she joined VHA, she began as an assistant in the general practice and ER branches of the hospital. A couple of months later, Alonna went through the ER bootcamp and shortly after became an overnight ER nurse. Not long after that, she was offered the position of ICU nurse and eventually evolved to accept the position of General Practice Manager.
The most rewarding part about Alonna’s position is watching every team member grow into strong, knowledgeable, amazing members of VHA. Some of Alonna’s favorite things about VHA are having the ability to grow in the field, and the empowerment VHA gives each individual. VHA does not feel like a corporation but family-owned business. Alonna also appreciates being the voice for her patients.
At home, Alonna has 3 cats and a dog. There’s Archibald the Sphynx cat, Athena the domestic medium haired cat, Freya Elizabeth, a domestic shorthair, and Sir Charles Cornelius, a Chihuahua mix. Outside of work, Alonna enjoys crocheting, arts and crafts, reading, spending time with family and friends, and exploring new places.
