Rose St Vil, SHRM-CP, brings a people-first leadership style and a deep commitment to purpose-driven work to her role as Director of Human Resources here at VHA. With a background in healthcare and behavioral health organizations, Rose has built her career around service, leadership, and strengthening teams in emotionally demanding environments. She was drawn to veterinary medicine because it is where heart, science, and service come together, and where supporting our people directly impacts the care our patients and families receive.
What inspired her most about joining us at VHA was our leadership’s clear heart for people, patients, and purpose. “I could see this was an organization focused not just on operational success, but on building a culture where team members feel valued, supported, and empowered to grow,” she shares. Since stepping into her role, she has found it especially rewarding to connect with leaders and team members who are committed to collaboration, transparency, and continual improvement.
Rose believes that when we take care of our teams, they are better equipped to take care of the families and pets who depend on us. She values the intentional conversations happening here at VHA around culture, well-being, and strengthening support systems so our people can thrive.
At home, Rose’s appreciation for veterinary medicine is personal. Her family shares life with Beauty2, a Basenji; CoCo, a Chow; and Diamond, her four-year-old daughter’s beloved cat. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking as a creative outlet and a way to bring people together, something that mirrors the community-centered culture we continue building here at VHA.
Putting the ‘H’ back in Human Resources means never forgetting that people come before processes.
